I am getting my hair cut and colored this week. Friday to be exact. I booked the appointment last night. In order for me to accomplish this small personal care miracle, many things had to come together, such as a babysitter, an 8:00 AM opening with my stylist, and healthy kids. In short, the planets needed to be in perfect alignment.
It has been quite a while since my last cut. If I were to guesstimate, I’d say its been somewhere in the neighborhood of one year, two months, and a day, or in other words, since before my daughter, Lucia, was born. If you envision Cousin It from the Adams Family, you’ll have a pretty good idea of my current look.
I am feeling excited. Good-bye gray, shapeless hair, hello fun and flirty fabulousness. I’ll undoubtedly end up looking practically identical to any number of celebrities…
Even though I am planning on obtaining hair perfection, I am worried that my new look may go unnoticed. What if I go about my daily routine and people do not stop and openly stare at me wherever I go? I just don’t think I could take that type of rejection.
What to do? What to do? Is there a way for me to ensure that I turn heads and people say, “Wow, there goes one great head of hair?”
Celeb*4*A*Day, a company that allows you to hire your own temporary entourage, including photographers, publicists and bodyguards, may be just what I am looking for. For $750, I could be a MegaStar and hire a group of people to call out questions about me and my hair whenever I go, just like the paparazzi does with Julia, Brad, and Britney!
Friday looks like it is going to be busy for me. I’m thinking it should be a great day to have my entourage in tow…
8:00 – Undergo color and cut that brings me instantaneous fabulousness and superstar status.
11:00 – Hit the grocery store and post office. Maybe with my personal paparazzi, people will be less likely to notice my crying or arguing children or feel compelled to tell me how difficult motherhood can be. I will instead stun them into blessed silence!
12:00 – Pick up Giancarlo from pre-school. Super! Those made-up Mommies who always achieve the perfect tri-fecta of clothing, make-up, and a rested appearance, will embrace my new look and welcome me with open arms into their inner circle.
1:00 – OB appointment. This one could be a little tricky, but why not? The photos in US Weekly are continually capturing stars going about their everyday routine, grocery shopping, pumping gas, walking their dog. Why not add this one to the list? It shouldn’t be too weird to have my entourage by my side. (I mean, weird would be something like taking your family with you to your OB appointment.)
All in all, I think it will be money well spent. $750 will even buy me a high-gloss print of me on the cover of Celeb*4*A*Day Magazine and a CD containing 5 high-resolution photographs from my experience.
What more do I need?
-Francesca

I am so ready to have my hair cut and styled – but I’m in the same boat as shimmermeblue…I have yet to find a hairdresser here in Small Town America that can achieve greatness with my big head-o-hair…maybe a trip to San Francisco would be in order – think Celeb*4*A*Day would give a group discount? We could make it a party…and you’d then have plenty of company and supporters for your grocery shopping and OB trips…

Okay, the cousin IT pic has been haunting me all day – I’m making an appointment for my hair, too.
Wanted to thank you for all the new bloggy friends Wenda introduced me to. You Bay B Chicks so much fun to read.

Thanks for visiting…..you are a busy lady you will love the pampering while getting a whole new look on Friday. and don’t worry about the house…maybe the photographers can clean up while they have some down time….at that price they should do something

That’s what I’m talking about! Hire paparazzi! Work it girl in front of those cameras and do that fabulosity stuff. Hey, if Kimora Lee Simmons can do why can’t the regular mom do. lol
I can’t wait to see the new looks.

Always one step ahead of the population Francesca darling. An entourage. Mah-velous!
Can’t wait to see pictures. You know, Annie Liebovitz’s pictures of you, what with the $150 per picture price tag!
I’d say reschedule that OB appointment, but at least you’ll be feeling fabulous. Paper gown? Rock it out. I mean, look what you did with some flip flops!
Blessings, Carolynn

HAHA… Oh my gosh. I can’t believe there is such a company as celeb 4 a day! That’s fantastic!
I’m sure you don’t need to go to such extremes top get the reaction you want for your fresh new look (just do what I do and call everyone you know to tell them that you’ve just made a change and want them to ooh and aah over you!).

Hilarious post! Who in the world – besides crazy you! – would pay $750 to pretend they were a celeb for the day? Sending yourself Valentine’s Day candy is one thing, but this type of behavior calls for therapy! Enjoy your day of hair pampering. Hope it stops traffic, in a good way!

Oooh have fun! Can’t wait to see how fabulous it turns out!

ONG, I laughed so hard at this, just the mental image of being at Costco with an entourage! I too look forward to haircuts or any pampering sans kids with as much anticipation as I did this new administration.
Enjoy your time and post a pic!

Francesca,
I’m sorry I spelt your name with a k, hit a wrong key.

I would fear that my hired band of admirers would catch me in a most unflattering pose and auction me off to a parenting magazine as the BEFORE picture in an article about what NOT to do while raising the next generation of adults. Most cruel.
Thanks for visiting and reading, BTW. I’m glad you like it! I’m hoping my challenge will get me stirred up and I’ll write something amazing one of these days. Oh and thanks for your vote too! You’re all sorts of supportive!

Would love to see a before and after…I’m honestly afraid to take the plunge on the coloring (although I could use it). I manage to get a haircut about every 5 months.

You really are a star in my book. and I’m totally famous and stuff so I’m pretty sure that opinion holds tons and tons of weight.

Thanks for coming back over to my blog today! Cool that you are going all out and spending big bucks on yourself
I think we as women don’t do it enough on ourselves. Would love to see the “after” pix.

Wow – you really can buy anything these days, can’t you?
[Reply]
I cannot wait for the before and after pix. I am 100% certain that you will turn heads. You have the ability to make people move. For example, I am currently rolling on the floor laughing. ;o)
I can’t wait to hear all about your celeb4aday day.
This post totally gets two hands in the air. The roof has officially been raised my friend!

So jealous about your hair appt! Man, do I need one, BAD. Wouldn’t it be great if salons had nurseries so that you don’t have to find babysitters just to get a stinking hair cut?!
[Reply]
I’m hoping you’ll post before and after pics… NOT from the O.B. thankyouverymuch!
I think the paparazzi idea is a great one! Just plunk down that cash and find your inner diva!
[Reply]
Ok, it’s been almost 5 days and no updated picture of the new you!
How did your salon day go?? Are you in jail for roughing up a photographer?
[Reply]
That just happened to me…not the OB part. I got my hair cut, saw my family and husband’s family, and no one noticed. Sad. The cut was really different too (different for me).
