My name is Kacey and I’m an addict. Yes, it’s true. I am addicted to Bravo television. I’ve heard that one of the most important steps in overcoming addiction is admitting you have a problem. I sit here before you willing to share my story in hopes to help those of you who may be headed down the same dark path.
Looking back my family says they saw red flags early on. The 10 Millionaire Matchmaker shows recorded on our Tivo were hard not to notice. The Flipping Out DVD & Project Runway box set on my wish list last Christmas was another indicator.

I tried explaining to my therapist that I had to watch The Rachel Zoe Project for my daughter’s sake. Emi only wears stretchy pants for heaven’s sake! Apparently two year olds do not understand the sacrifices us mothers make. Did I want to get sucked into watching a show about a famous stylist? No! Was I looking for solutions to the stretchy pants saga? Absolutely. So what if I got sucked in for the entire season and didn’t make any dinners for a month. Fashion, my friends, fashion—it’s hard work.

Up until this August I had my addiction under control. Then the second season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta began and my world came crashing down. I became obsessed with the show and according to my husband “unbearable to live with” on Thursday nights. I’m embarrassed to admit that Nene, Kim, Sheree, Kandi, and Lisa took precedent over my family.

Be honest, how does one exactly turn away from a train wreck? This was my problem. I thought I had everything under control. So I may have stopped playing and reading books to Emi on Thursday nights. Occasionally she did have cookies and goldfish for dinner, but in my defense I brushed her teeth every single night.

Of course I couldn’t relate to these ladies but they kept it “real” and it was refreshing to see housewives engaged in more drama than myself. Besides who can forget the six little words “Don’t Be Tardy for the Party!” classic?

Things are looking up, my friends. I’m getting the help I need and, with support from my family, I should fully recover just in time for The Real Housewives of Orange County.
Now, it’s your turn. Tell us your guilty pleasure.

I to watch way too much television. The only reality show I like to watch is American Idol. I have found the joys of watching shows on line now as Thursday nights seem to be when every station puts on all the shows I want to see. I have no idea why they can’t just scatter the good shows out over the week. But, maybe that’s the point.

I’m sooo with you on this. Before we got rid of extended cable (yikes!), I too was addicted to Bravo, especially Project Runway, Kathy Griffin, and (secretly) the Real Housewives of NYC. It was like ripping off a bandage when we cut back on cable. Now I barely watch TV, since we just have the main networks. I miss those shows!

I too share your obsession for all things Bravo! I would probably watch Real Housewives of Bakersfield if it were on! I draw the line at those annoying realestate boys in LA though. I want to smack the emo right off their faces.

Oh my gosh! I heart this post and I totally and completely relate. I can not get enough of those real housewives…of course they are as ‘real’ as can be! I just started watching Zoe even though I am the most unfashionable girl on the planet! Gary says he fears me on Thursday nights….whatever! Can hardly wait for the blondes of oc. Do you ever run into them?

Oh and Genny’s comment about your header made me think of my wedding. Hubby & I had an inside joke that our getting married was all about “taking the world by storm” it reminded us of a rockin’ 80′s band. We are nerds & now the world knows (hangs head in shame)

Flipping Out flipped itself this season. It has become obviously staged. Very disappointing. You need to get addicted to showtime… Weeds and Dexter!!! Dexter will kill for you

I am TOTALLY addicted too. Should we start a group or something? Wait. Put that thought on pause. I’m not sure I want an intervention. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bravo TV. I mean, is there really anything better? Come on. The guys can handle the book reading for one measly night a week! We may miss an important real estate tip from Jeff Lewis. Or a Housewife throw down. Or GASP! A fashion inside scoop from Rachel! You know, she says we need a bomber jacket this season. I’m just sayin’.
OK, I’m not helping you. My apologies. But if you ever decide you don’t want help and want to continue the Bravo addiction I’m here for you. I got your back.
